I was able to catch the Marc By Marc Jacobs runway show via livestream on my iPhone! The ready to wear collection showed looks reminiscent of a 1950's summer holiday. Neutral colors, strips, big hair and sundresses all took the stage!
The collection was no less colourful - and the hair was the curly, frizzed-out, early Marisa Berenson style, we'd seen the night before. But the emphasis was on sweet, pretty and innocent looks, reminiscent of a 1950's summer holiday. Bold stripes predominated, in yellow and white, navy and white, red and white, and turquoise, orange and yellow, zinging horizontally around the body, or stamped vertically from neck to knee. The key looks were sun-dresses, halter-necks, round-collared, little blouses with full skirts, jumpsuits and romper-suits. Little frilled bra-tops came with skirts in bands of cream and white, and a marquee-stripe sun-dress in red and white featured shoulder ties. Jacobs also re-launched the full-coverage bikini bottom -dubbed "granny pants" by the tabloids. They appeared with side-ruffles, in blue and white print, worn with a strict white shirt, or with a tiny frill edging and peeking out from under a red and white baby-doll.Even more striking was a loose, trapeze-line dress with navy-and-white side panels which swung open to reveal yellow-and-white stripes beneath. A naïve, girly sun-frock in embroidered red, white and blue polka-dots, with a frilled detail at the back of the waist, closed the show. The shoes - a colourful mix of canvas, patent and wicker sneaker-wedges - were often tied at the ankle with "bandana' bows. Via Telegraph.Co.UK
