A little about Barrel House:
BarrelHouseBKLYN is a company that was founded in May 2009 and is made up of three young, talented and ambitious individuals from Brooklyn,NY by the name of Ashani (founder), Kirby and Akeem. Our mission is to promote positivity and ambition within our communities through all outlets of entertainment: fashion, art, music, and other forms of expression. Our ultimate goal is to own our very own clothing boutique specializing in the latest fashion and apparel, while converting to a lounge space by night. The lounge serves as a platform for aspiring and driven artists to showcase their talent to an audience. We combined our favorite elements and BarrelHouseBKLYN was born.

As we are still growing as a company and business we have found various ways to capture audiences and promote our brands through showcases and events, mixtapes as well as our own street wear brand. November, 2009 we launched our very first event entitled “Welcome to the BarrelHouse”. It was an artist showcase featuring various artists from Hip Hop, Neo-soul and Spoken Word genres. From the reaction and success from our very first event it fueled us and we kept producing. We quickly delved into numerous projects all of which were successful.
Our company soon began working on our first mixtape entitled “Say Somethin’ Vol. 1”. It featured many BarrelHouseBKLYN affiliates such as Scienze, D. Julien, Courtney Salter, Koncrete, Steady Fam and so many more! After months of grinding and making sure the mixtape was right, it was released on barrelhousenyc.bandcamp.com for the public. From there, we launched our official website where our audience and supporters can log on to find out about the newest and latest music, fashion, and events and also get to know the members of the company personally.
March 2010, BarrelHouseBKLYN kicked off a bi-weekly artist showcase at Five Spot Lounge in Brooklyn, NY entitled “BarrelHouse Thursdays”. Every other Thursday we brought talented individuals to showcase their talent. Our company compiles various forms of entertainment into one outlet and this is no different with the “Never Satisfied” video series. Our team in conjunction with 576 productions put together a video interview series featuring individuals who are dominating their specific field. We launched the series with BarrelHouseBKLYN artist D.Julien and it has received a tremendous amount of publicity on various sites such as Globalgrind.com, 2dopeboyz.comand so many more!
Our latest project we are working on is our very own street wear brand “Concrete Heavens”. Concrete Heavens, is a Project that BarrelHouseBKLYN (www.Barrelhousebklyn.com), started in conjunction with an artist named Victor James. It is a street wear/lifestyle brand that draws heavy inspiration from the hustle and grind of New York City. Our slogan is: “Non Semper Erit Aestas,” which is pig latin and it means “it will not always be summer”, meaning that things will not always be great on the road to success. There WILL be obstacles and struggles as you proceed. So be prepared for the grind, and be prepared to persevere… To see our Spring/Summer T0shirt line, visit TheConcreteHeavens.tumblr.com.
